Grading Guidelines for Fair Use Assignments
- For a grade of A, the student refers to the Code, applies the transformative logic of category 3 appropriately (stressing transformative function, repurposing, recontexualizing, or the absence thereof), considers appropriate amount in terms of the expressive intent/effect/function of the artwork, and considers all the limitations.
- For a grade of B, the student refers to the Code, applies both transformative/appropriate amount logic, considers all the limitations, and makes adequate connections between the logic of the Code and the artwork.
- For a grade of C, the student refers to the Code, but shows only mechanical or basic grasp of principles.
